Tokyo, Japan, December 18, 2015 --- Teijin Limited joined the Paris Pledge for Action, the declaration of support to ensuring that the level of ambition set by the Paris Agreement on climate change in the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 21) is met or exceeded.
Teijin Group is actively implementing sustainable-environment initiatives under a corporate philosophy of placing “the highest priority on safety and the preservation of our natural environment.” These initiatives include working to achieve a CO2 emissions reduction ratio of 1% or more per year from 2012 to 2020. In 2014, the amount of CO2 emissions was reduced by 9% compared to fiscal 2013.
In announcing its support for the Paris Pledge for Action, Teijin Group will drive forward its environmental management including the actions for reducing the greenhouse gas emissions, and will continue to contribute to the realization of a more sustainable global society.
The Paris Pledge for Action is a declaration by businesses, investors, cities, and other parties to take practical steps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and help achieve the targets set out by the Paris Agreement, and is calling for businesses, investors, cities and other parties worldwide to pledge their support.
